BEAUTY AT HOME WITH
In the hills of Perth, Western Australia, Bronte Taton has created a sanctuary defined by a dialogue between the past and the present. As the founder of Cleo Collects – a gallery and design studio renowned for its devotion to antique treasures – Bronte’s own home serves as her most personal curation. Soaring ceilings, palatial porticos, and grand archways provide a beautiful backdrop for family life. Here, she shares a European-inspired world with her husband and their daughter, Clementine.
Having refined her eye through years spent living between France and the U.S., Bronte champions a quiet way of living. For Bronte, the beauty of home is never about perfection, but atmosphere – the resonance of cherished family pieces and the soft patina of history that breathes life into every room resulting in a home that feels beautifully lived in.
The beauty of home, for me, is deeply tied to family time, serenity, and peaceful surroundings. It’s the place I always surrender to where the noise of the outside world softens and I feel I can fully exhale. Home is where I feel most myself: unguarded and calm. For me, It’s not about perfection or styling, but more about creating an atmosphere that feels nurturing, grounding, and deeply personal for my family.
There are many, which feels inevitable when you’re a collector. Each piece in our home has been chosen slowly and with intention, and many resonate deeply with my culture and heritage. The French pieces perhaps speak most clearly to this; our Aubusson tapestry and a burl wood Parisian coffee table feel especially personal. I’ve always been drawn to Cubism and its fractured, expressive forms, and I see that reflected in the way I live and work - layered, intuitive, a little imperfect, and always evolving.
My favourite memories are often the quietest ones. I love hosting long, relaxed dinners, with conversations flowing and the sound of children playing in the garden nearby. One memory that stays with me is a day spent lounging outside with Clementine, playing cards and listening to music with no agenda at all. Those moments of stillness and simplicity are what make our home feel alive and personal.
Our 17th-century Aubusson tapestry in the main hall is incredibly special to me. I’m drawn to its French history, the slow and considered craftsmanship, and the sense of narrative it carries. It has likely lived in many homes before ours, quietly observing different lives and moments, and I love imagining the stories it holds.
Equally cherished is a portrait of my daughter and myself, painted in our garden by my dear friend Emma Itzstein. It feels like a tender ode to motherhood, friendship, my garden, and home. Our Danish rosewood mid-century chairs are also special - they were the first significant collector’s pieces I invested in as a student and marked the beginning of my journey into design and collecting.
Living in France shaped how I think about home. It taught me to value longevity, imperfection, history and the beauty of objects that carry memory. Every piece in our home tells a story; a place I’ve visited, a moment wandering markets, or an item that was originally meant for Cleo Collects but arrived imperfect and stayed. Our home has evolved slowly and is shaped by experience rather than trends.
Perth offers a sense of peace and serenity that feels increasingly rare. There’s space, and a beautiful slowness to life here. No pressure, no urgency. Being close to nature and surrounded by family allows our home to feel open and grounded, a place where we can live rather than rush through.
